What makes an NIE number necessary?
A NIE number (Número de Identificación de Extranjero) is a unique identification number assigned to non-Spanish residents in Spain. It is required for many legal and financial activities in the country, such as:
- opening a bank account
- signing a rental contract
- opening a company
- buying or selling property
- or getting a residence permit
