The certificate itself is issued quickly: the FNMT lets you download it roughly an hour after your identity has been accredited. What sets the overall timeline is the earlier steps — installing the FNMT software, requesting your code by email, and completing the identity accreditation. Allow a few working days from start to finish.
How long is the certificate valid and how do I renew it?
The FNMT Certificado de Persona Física is valid for four years from issue. You can renew it online during the 60 days before it expires, as long as it has not been revoked, and that renewal needs no further identity accreditation. If you let it lapse, you start the process again from the beginning, accreditation included.
