Supported Countries for Opening a Bank Account in Portugal

Last updated: By

The bank policies have changed, and we can now only support certain clients in opening a bank account. We can help you if:

  • you hold a valid passport of one of the countries listed below, and
  • you currently reside in one of the countries listed below.

These can be different countries, provided both are on the list — a person who holds a UK passport and resides in South Africa qualifies for our bank account opening service.

Notes on the list

This is not E-Residence’s own list of countries we support — it was provided to us by the bank managers, so we have to follow it. The bank may request additional information and documents from citizens of certain countries it deems high risk, which might delay the account opening or lead to a decline. These policies only affect our bank account service: we can support anyone in obtaining a NIF.
