Looking for a NIE appointment in Alicante or Valencia? Start with the exact procedure and office, not a generic “extranjería” address. The National Police directory explicitly lists NIE assignment at Calle de Bailén, 9, Valencia. In Alicante, it lists NIE services at Calle Ebanistería, 6, but does not name the precise type of NIE request in that office entry.

If you are applying from Dublin, you are looking at a different route: consular services at the Spanish Embassy, with restrictions based on where you live and whether you plan to move to Spain.

First choose the procedure, not just the city

A search for “NIE appointment” can mean several different things. The official procedures are separate: the NIE assignment page refers to EX-15, the TIE procedure to EX-17, and EU registration to EX-18. An office may handle more than one of them, but the forms and appointments are not interchangeable.

Three separate procedures: NIE assignment uses EX-15, TIE uses EX-17, and EU registration uses EX-18. Choose the procedure before the office. — Choose what you need to apply for before comparing office addresses.

You need a NIE assigned for an economic, professional or social reason connected with Spain: start with the official NIE assignment procedure.
You need a TIE, fingerprints or information about collecting a residence card: do not use an office recommendation for number assignment as a substitute. Start with the official TIE procedure, which is separate from NIE assignment.
You are registering under the EU-citizen procedure: consult the official EU registration instructions, not just an EX-15 checklist.

Already have a NIE? Identify the document you need

Do not start a first-number application just because a bank, employer or another organization has asked for a “NIE document”. Ask what it actually needs: your number, a certificate showing it, proof of residence or a physical card. The police directory lists Certificado de NIE and Asignación de NIE separately at Bailén, which is a useful reminder that requesting evidence of a number and having a number assigned are different tasks.

If a previous Spanish document already shows a NIE, keep it with your preparation notes and explain that to the receiving office. Let the office identify the appropriate certificate, card or other procedure rather than choosing EX-15 solely from a search result.

Alicante: Ebanistería, 6 is listed for NIE services

The official police directory names Brigada Provincial de Extranjería y Fronteras de Alicante (3) at Calle Ebanistería, 6, Alicante. Its published telephone number is 965019393.

The important qualification: the service is labeled “NIE”, not specifically “Asignación de NIE”. Ebanistería, 6 is therefore a documented starting point for a NIE inquiry, not a promise that any NIE-related application will be accepted there. Check the exact procedure and address offered in the official appointment route before making travel arrangements.

Ebanistería, Campo de Mirra and Montañeta are not interchangeable

Several real government addresses can appear in search results for Alicante:

Calle Ebanistería, 4 y 6: the Ministry’s listing for the administrative Oficina de Extranjería. It publishes a different telephone, 965019300, and information hours. Do not transfer that office’s contact details or hours to the police entry at number 6.
Calle Campo de Mirra, 6: the police directory lists Tarjetas de Residencia at Brigada Provincial de Extranjería y Fronteras de Alicante (2). That is not an explicit listing for assigning a NIE number. View Campo de Mirra on Google Maps.

The difference is not a spelling detail. A government building, an immigration-permit office and a police card service may all be relevant to foreigners while handling different requests. Match the institution, procedure and address together.

Where to check the appointment route

Use the official ICP+ appointment-information entry and the Ministry’s local office information.

If the procedure offered is for fingerprints, EU registration or another request, do not select it simply because it has a date available. Match the request you need to the current official instructions. If the NIE option or receiving office is unclear, ask the relevant office to confirm it before arranging travel.

Valencia: Bailén, 9 explicitly lists NIE assignment

For Valencia city, the strongest match is Oficina de Trámites de Comunitarios y Certificados, Calle de Bailén, 9. The National Police directory explicitly includes Asignación de NIE, alongside Certificado de NIE and other certificates.

These are the office hours published in the directory, not a list of available NIE appointments. Your confirmed appointment time and current local instructions remain the practical references for a visit.

Why some guides send you to Patraix or Zapadores

The police directory distinguishes the following offices:

The Ministry also distinguishes Patraix for non-EU card issuance and Bailén for EU registration. That does not contradict the police directory’s separate NIE-assignment service at Bailén: one office can handle several procedures.

Likewise, “lote”, “recogida de tarjeta” and “toma de huellas” concern a different question from finding the office for a first number. Use the procedure described on your own application or receipt; do not infer the correct office from the word “NIE” in a search result.

For current booking information, enter through the official ICP+ information page, linked by the Ministry. Check the procedure and receiving office shown there; a directory’s opening hours do not tell you which appointments are available.

Applying from Dublin? Use the Spanish Embassy route

Dublin is not another Spanish police-office option. The published address for the Spanish Embassy’s consular services is 17A Merlyn Park, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4, D04 HF53, Ireland.

Its NIE route is for residents in Ireland who do not plan to move to Spain or take employment there. People moving or taking employment are directed to a police appointment in Spain. Residents of Northern Ireland are directed to Edinburgh, not Dublin.

Start with the online appointment link on the embassy’s official NIE page. emb.dublin.cesp@maec.es is published for information about NIE applications; it is not the online booking link.

The applicant or an accredited representative must attend. The resulting NIE is sent by email, so do not confuse attendance for the application with a second visit to collect the number.

What to prepare once you have identified the right route

For NIE assignment, the National Police procedure names EX-15, proof of payment for Modelo 790 Código 012, and the reason for requesting the number. These are the published starting points, not a complete checklist for every office or personal situation.

Use the following preparation sequence:

Write down what you are applying for. “NIE assignment” is more precise than “NIE appointment”. If the request is really a TIE or EU registration, return to the corresponding procedure.

Check payment instructions for your route. Follow the authority’s current directions for the relevant 790-012 fee. Do not reuse a consular payment method for a police appointment in Spain, or another procedure’s fee.
Match your appointment confirmation to the intended request. Check your details, the service, the office address, date and time before you travel.
Confirm how you will receive the result. Dublin publishes email delivery. For Alicante or Valencia, follow the receiving office’s instructions rather than assuming that the number, a certificate and a physical card share a collection process.

A useful question to ask an office is: “I need to request assignment of a NIE, not a TIE or EU registration. Is this the correct procedure and receiving office for my case?” This is suggested wording for an inquiry, not a guarantee of eligibility or an official form.

Before your visit: save the information you will need

Keep the appointment details and your document preparation together, rather than relying on a map pin or a search result when you arrive. The following is a practical organization checklist, not an additional official document requirement:

The exact service you selected. Save its name with the date and time. A general calendar entry saying “NIE” can hide the distinction between assignment, certification and a card appointment.
The receiving office’s full address. Check the street number as well as the city. Open the corresponding map link and compare it with your confirmation; if the addresses differ, resolve that before traveling.
The current local instructions. Keep the official page or message that explains what applies to your request. Check whether it asks for originals, copies, a signature or supporting evidence rather than using another office’s list.
Your reason for requesting the NIE. Prepare a short, consistent explanation. The national assignment procedure requires you to communicate the economic, professional or social reason for the request.
Any document on which a NIE already appears. Note whether you are asking for an initial assignment or evidence of an existing number. Do not send identity documents to an unofficial address just to ask which procedure applies.
The next-step question you still need answered. For example: how will you be notified, will anything need collecting, and which office should you contact about your own request?

After applying: a number, a certificate and a card have different next steps

Before leaving an appointment, make sure you understand what happens next for the request you actually submitted. Do not copy another person’s collection timetable or assume that an email notification and a physical-card appointment are the same stage.
